Yes, but whether your room in the dorm counts as a single apartment or whether you can register a shared apartment with your roommates varies from dorm to dorm. You can find out more on the website about the broadcasting fee.
To ensure a pleasant coexistence, all residents must abide by the house rules of our residence halls.
Application
You can apply via the online application. Pay attention to the following email and confirm the link to complete the application. Submitting your application does not guarantee a place in the dormitory.
You can also apply for a dormitory place via a paper application form. Please use the application for a dormitory place for this purpose.
Please apply for the following winter semester by July 15, for the following summer semester by January 15. These are not cut-off dates; you can always apply for a place in a hall of residence.
In the summer semester, the chances are greater than in the winter semester, as more courses start in the winter, which is why there are also considerably more applicants then. Experience shows that we cannot offer a room to all students in the winter. Forecasts are difficult because the number of students changes from semester to semester, currently usually upwards.
The general lottery procedure applies again.
Application procedure
At the earliest six weeks before March 1 or September 1 - thereafter continuously until the end of the semester. As soon as a housing place is available for you, you will receive an offer by email. To ensure that our messages reach you, add us as a safe sender to your email account.
If you do not receive an offer due to a lack of available housing, your application will remain on the application list for the current semester, therefore no rejections will be sent. Periodically, we will send an email to verify that your application is current. After the end of the semester, a new application is required.
In this case, do not sign the contract in advance and be sure to call or email the dormitory administration of the Studentenwerk SH to be deferred. These applicants will then be given priority once they have received the university's acceptance and then contact the dormitory administration again.
Sometimes students cancel their room shortly after moving in, because they have received an acceptance from their preferred university elsewhere in the postponement procedure or have found a shared apartment or their own apartment with friends. There are also dropouts who are no longer allowed to occupy the rooms. Therefore, there is always the chance to move up.
The EDP program also assigns points for the waiting list, after which a draw is again made. But here, too, the processors can take individual wishes into account. If the main wish cannot be fulfilled, they look for an alternative.
Move-in
No, unfortunately this is not possible.
After the contract is signed, we will send you all the important information about moving in as well as the contact details of the janitor's office, so that an appointment can be arranged.

Living together
For new residents there is the flyer New in the dormitory, which gives you information about living together.
In addition, you can find out how to communicate with your flatmates in our communication guide.
Finally, we have a cleaning plan that you can use in your shared apartment.
The allocation of our dormitory rooms is based on the principle of equal treatment. Our shared flats are therefore diverse in terms of gender, age and also nationality. This is very important to us, especially to promote the development of social skills and cultural exchange among each other. The applicant has no influence on the composition of the shared flats.
Relocation
As a tenant in one of our dormitories, you generally have the possibility to move within our dormitories. Please read §9 of the General Rental Conditions.
Cancellation
Our rental contracts can be terminated in due time, but also prematurely. Please read §7 of the General Rental Conditions and use the following application termination form.
Damage report
A repair of the damage can only be ordered with a completely filled out and signed damage report form. You can drop this form in the mailboxes of the janitors or bring it to their office hours.
If you notice an infestation of vermin in your room or flat, please contact your caretaker as soon as possible or alternatively the housing administration via wohnen@studentenwerk.sh.
It is very important that you report an infestation to us as soon as possible, because only then can we take action.
Please pay particular attention to used furniture or clothing that you buy to see if there are any bedbugs.

In the fire protection regulations you will find information on how to behave in the event of a fire. Important: Not every extinguishing agent is available in every residence hall.
