Student union invites to sustainable canteen tours

The university catering of the Studentenwerk SH will be offering canteen tours with a focus on sustainability at the Kiel, Flensburg, Lübeck and Heide campuses next Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

"Through the tours, we would like to give interested guests an insight into the work processes of our operations and in particular address our sustainable activities," explains Kristin Dahl, Deputy Head of University Catering.

Anyone who has always wanted to know what it looks like behind the scenes of a commercial kitchen, where the ingredients for the cafeteria meals come from and how they are prepared, is cordially invited to the approximately one-hour tours. Staff members from the dining halls explain, among other things, how the menu is created and what sustainable measures the university's dining services take. "The tour is a great chance to get exciting insights and answers to burning questions," Dahl said.

Those interested are asked to register by emailing mensa@studentenwerk.sh with their name and information on which location they would like to attend. Note: Due to hygiene regulations, all participants must wear scrubs. Those who already have a gown (for example, lab or doctor's gown) are welcome to bring it. In addition, there will be plenty of scrubs on site.
