Student Union offers exciting programme at Science Day
Tomorrow, Friday 30 September, the Festival of Science will reach its climax with the Science Day in Kiel. The Studentenwerk SH will welcome the visitors with a varied programme in Mensa I on Westring.
On the one hand, the Studentenwerk will offer a guided tour of the refectory from 5 to 6 p.m. with a focus on sustainability. During the tour, canteen manager Marco Eckstedt will give insights behind the scenes of university catering, show the dimensions of a large kitchen and in particular go into the sustainable activities. The meeting point is the North Entrance (towards the Audimax).
On the other hand, visitors can look forward to a colourful cultural evening from 5 to 7 p.m. in the large dining hall on the first floor, where Kiel students will show everything they have learned in the courses and workshops of the Student Union. The programme includes a short philosophical comedy, entertaining short films from the film competition "Nur 48 Stunden" (Only 48 Hours) and other surprise acts.
Also at 5 p.m. in the Small Dining Room on the first floor, the Student Union invites you to the one-hour event "Stress - von Teufelskreisen und dem Weg hinaus" (Stress - of vicious circles and the way out). Those interested will learn in a short lecture how stress is processed and which levels play a role in this. Strategies for successfully coping with stress will also be taught. Finally, a mindfulness exercise will be tried out together.
In addition to what the Student Union has to offer, there will of course be many other highlights in Mensa I, including film screenings, lectures, presentations, hands-on experiments and exhibitions. An overview of the complete programme and information about the free shuttle can be found here: https://www.wissenschafftzukunft-kiel.de/festival-der-wissenschaft/science-day.html.
As Schleswig-Holstein's largest science event in the Kiel region, the Festival of Science offers numerous opportunities to experience science up close. The highlight is the Science Day. A total of ten locations - Seeburg, Kunsthalle zu Kiel, IPN, Mensa I, CITTI-PARK, Kiel University of Applied Sciences, Legienstraße 40, spce I Muthesius, STUDIO Filmtheater and hansa 48 - open their doors to young and old throughout the day and offer everything that the heart desires in research and science.
