University catering
The Student Union SH employs the most staff in the university catering department. The professions represented in the team, which consists of a total of 217 people, are correspondingly diverse. In the cafeterias, operations managers, kitchen managers, chefs and cafeteria staff provide a balanced and affordable range of meals. Our cafeterias and café lounges are run by experienced managers. In the café lounges, we fully rely on the support of students, who are given the opportunity to work a part-time job close to the university.
Catering and events are also an important part of university catering. Colleagues in this area plan and organise internal and external events, which is why the team consists of event managers, warehouse staff and drivers, among others. All threads come together in the university catering administration.
The university catering management team can count on the support of several administrators. At the Kiel, Lübeck, Flensburg and Heide sites, we train several young people each year to become chefs.
Regional, fresh and sustainable are just some of the characteristics that describe the university catering offer. The team attaches great importance to animal-friendly production and high-quality products. Students are served fresh snacks, coffee specialities, trendy new drinks and a large selection of varied dishes that also cater for vegetarian and vegan diets. Special events, such as "Green Day" or "Campus Cooking", ensure that the menu is always varied.
