The Studentenwerk SH employs the largest number of staff in the university catering department. The professions represented in the team, which consists of a total of 217 people, are correspondingly diverse. In the refectories, operations managers, kitchen managers, cooks and refectory staff ensure that the food offered is both well-balanced and reasonably priced. Our cafeterias and café lounges are run by experienced managers. In the café lounges, we rely fully on the support of students, who are given the opportunity here to work a part-time job close to the university.
Catering and events are also an important part of university catering. Colleagues from this area plan and manage internal and external events, which is why the team consists of event managers, warehouse staff and drivers, among others. All threads come together in the administration of the university catering. The management team of the university catering can count on the support of several clerks. At the Kiel, Lübeck, Flensburg and Heide sites, we train several young people each year to become cooks.
Regional, fresh and sustainable are just some of the characteristics that describe the university's catering offer. The team places a lot of emphasis on animal-friendly production and high quality products. Students are served fresh snacks, coffee specialties, trendy new drinks and a wide selection of diverse dishes that also cover vegetarian and vegan diets. Special promotions, such as "Green Day" or "Campus Cooking," keep the offerings varied.
