Hardship fund for a subsidy towards administrative costs
Students can find themselves in unforeseen financial difficulties (hardship cases) for a variety of reasons: sudden job loss, illness or an accident, or if their parents no longer pay their maintenance.
The payment of the administration fee represents an additional financial burden for those affected. To ensure that students in hardship cases receive financial support and can continue their studies, they can be granted a subsidy towards the administrative fee. A hardship fund is available for this purpose.
How much?
- Grant in the amount of the administrative fee, currently €60
For whom?
- You are enrolled at a university in the area of responsibility of the Studentenwerk SH AND
- You are in a financial emergency and have therefore received emergency aid to overcome the emergency.
Emergency aid, which includes, among other things, the following- the hardship loan from the Studentenwerk SH
- cost reimbursements, exemptions and support services for the semester fee or the semester ticket from the ASten or STuPas of the universities (hardship regulations)
- emergency aid from the religious communities, e.g. ESG and KSG
- the study fund of the University of Lübeck for study-related support
- the birth grant from the Studentenwerk SH
- the graduation loan from the Studentenwerk SH
- the bridging grant for international students
- one-off or temporary support from foundations or associations in cases of hardship such as
- the Association for the Promotion of Foreign Students, Kiel
- the Karin-Schütz Foundation, Lübeck
- the Diakonie Foundation Schleswig-Holstein
- the Federal Foundation Mother and Child
- the Lebenshilfe e.V.
- and others
How do I submit the application?
- Digitally via our application portal
- in the relevant semester, no later than 14 days after the end of the semester
- You must submit the following documents:
- 1. a certificate of enrolment AND
- 2. a receipt proving receipt of the emergency aid, e.g. a bank statement or receipt AND
- 3. if available: a letter confirming that you have been granted emergency aid
If the emergency aid was paid for a period extending over several semesters, you can submit a separate application for each semester.
The grant can only be approved for as long as funds are available in the hardship fund. There is no legal entitlement to a grant from the hardship fund.
You will be informed about the approval or rejection of your application in the application portal.
