Application for further funding
BAföG is usually granted for one year. You must then submit an application for continued funding.

Remember that you can also submit this application easily via BAföG Digital. You save yourself a lot of paperwork.

BAföG 1 application
Application for educational support for first-time and foreign applicants

BAföG 7 Update
Update applications may be submitted separately if the income of the student's spouse and/or parents is significantly lower than it was two years ago within the grant period.

BAföG 8 Advance payment
Must only be submitted if the parents/one parent does not pay the amount calculated in the BAföG notice. Attention: An action for maintenance is not excluded if there is still a claim for maintenance according to § 1610 BGB.

BAföG 9 Application for further funding
This application is used if the gap-free continuation of funding at the same university is requested, the applicant's own income is unchanged and the applicant's own assets continue to be below the exemption amount (currently 8,200 euros for the applicant himself/herself). Important: The form replaces only form 1, all other necessary forms and proofs - especially the income declarations and proofs of the parents - have to be submitted additionally as before.

We also need
- a registration certificate or the tenancy agreement (if you have your own flat that is not owned by your parents or one of your parents. This can also be a student hall of residence or a shared flat)
- the certificate of study according to § 9 BAföG (every semester), alternatively form 2
- proof of health and long-term care insurance (if you are insured yourself and liable to pay contributions)
