Corona test station must close
The Corona testing station operated by the Studentenwerk SH in cooperation with a regional doctor's practice in the hexagonal building next to Mensa I in Kiel will have to close its doors at short notice from tomorrow, Saturday 26 November 2022.
The closure is related to the updated coronavirus test regulation that was published today. In this, the entitlements to a rapid test have changed unexpectedly. Previously, people who wanted to attend a (teaching) event, among other things, were entitled to a test - with a co-payment of 3 euros. This entitlement has been removed from the new regulation. The costs for the rapid tests are no longer covered by the Federal Ministry of Health.
At the test centre in the hexagon building, mainly students and employees who want to take part in a (teaching) event have themselves tested. As of now, the Studentenwerk's cooperation partner can no longer bill for these tests, making the operation of the testing station uneconomical.
"We very much regret the short-term closure," says Susann Schrader, Managing Director of the Studentenwerk SH. "We had only recently agreed on completely free testing for students and university employees with our partner, which is now no longer available. Unfortunately, our hands are tied here and we ask for your understanding."
