Restrictions possible in the refectories
On the occasion of the start of the semester, the Studentenwerk SH has reopened its catering facilities statewide for students. However, due to staff shortages caused by the corona, there may be short-term closures or limited services in the refectories, cafeterias and café lounges.
"We were really looking forward to the restart and are full of verve to offer students a healthy and affordable meal every day again," says Torsten Schmidt, Head of University Catering. "Unfortunately, the effects of the pandemic present us with great challenges." Not only is there currently a high level of sick leave due to the corona, but there is also a fundamental shortage of staff in the catering sector. "We are trying to find substitutes through temporary employment agencies in case of staff shortages. Unfortunately, we can't always get help there either. So restrictions cannot be prevented in some cases."
The university catering team hopes that the situation will stabilise again in the next few weeks and asks its guests for their understanding if there are any short-term closures of serving areas, facilities or restricted opening hours. Information will be posted on the Studentenwerk website on a daily basis. The current menus can also be found on the website.
